Mounting a reel?

Hey everyone, I have a question on mounting a reel on a wood gun. I'm going to be buying a Mako reel soon and had a question on the best method of doing so. Is it better to screw directly to the wood, or to put the inserts into the wood and screw to that? And with either method, is there anything you need to put into the holes prior to screwing the screw or insert into the wood? Thanks!

Re: Mounting a reel?

screw on the quick release and leave that on the gun permanently just detach the reel as needed and fill the screw holes with superglue or epoxy to seal them..

Re: Mounting a reel?

That's what I'm going to do Andrew. I was just asking about sealing the screw holes. And whether it was better to attach the mount to lugs or screw directly to the gun.

Re: Mounting a reel?

Its a subsea right?

I mounted my reel to one of my railguns and just added some 5200 to the screw holes to seal it up. dont see why that wouldnt work for yours.

Re: Mounting a reel?

Yeah, still not sure if I'm going to even like using a reel since I've never used one, but if I'm going to mount it I want to do it right.
