I've found that a combination of windfinder, NOAA and looking at those buoys that are actually operational in the days leading up to a trip is a pretty good combo.

Re: MG weather Forcast

Why go to a 3rd party who copies the same stale info when you can get more updated data directly from the source ?

NOAA's newish wave4 graphical program lets you zoom, move around, pull wind speeds and wave heights like shown below. One word of caution is that it is built around the GFS model and for the last 2 years the Euro model has been kicking it's but for accuracy when ever there is a tropical storm 'named', so it can go alittle wonky. But normally it's dead accurate for a graphical and zoomable forecast.

Here's a screen shot of the middle grounds and the link. Move & zoom the map to your normal dive area then look at the very bottom left hand corner and click on create a bookmark link, then save to your bookmarks and you'll always have an easy forecast to check.

a lot of people like to use third party sites because NOAA forecast are usually pretty conservative and there broadcasted forecast usually covers relatively large areas. Additionally as you mentioned yourself NOAA and the NWS only use the GFS model while sites like wind finder use both.

Like someone earlier posted I use both NOAA and Windfinder which are usually quite similar anyway.
