Here's something I made to help organize things. It holds 6 guns securely - fully airborne boat at 60 mph tested. Serves as a cutting board, holds a couple of tanks, and installs or removes in about 30 seconds, with no holes in the boat.

Awesome. I've been waiting to hear how it worked out.
Do you have a dive ladder? Pics? How hard/easy is it to trailer? Can you pm me what you paid for it please. Charlie

Re: My Dream Boat Build Thread 29 Freeman
Charlie, I got the "ultimate" model from diveladder.com, and think that it's great - except that I have to use a bungie or rope to keep it in the up position while running. It's not a big deal, but not as clean as I want. It's an easy fix that I'll get around to soon. Please don't get me wrong here, I'd buy it again in a second - way better than Armstrong type.
Regarding the price of the boat, I'll send you a PM, but I'll say here that it was considerably cheaper than a similarly equipped 32 Seavee, Yellowfin, Contender, etc. Yes, I know that I'm comparing it to boats that are longer, but when I was looking and seriously considering all of those brands I found that this boat stacks up very nicely with all of them in terms of space, capability, ride, etc. After putting 150 hours and over 2000 miles on the boat, I damn sure wouldn't trade it for any of them. With regard to other cat hulls, I don't think that there are any that hold a candle to Freeman right now. We ran out early recently in the dark (with night vision) and barked the props a couple times so I pulled it back to 35 mph, gave it a little trim tab and kicked back. When the sun came up I was surprised to see how nasty it was (stacked true 3-4'). The ride must be experienced. If you are serious about buying one, I'd be happy to take you out so that you can decide for yourself if it fits your needs. |

Congrats on the new boat.Best Cat money can buy. I own a different brand Cat for a # of years and would never go back to a conventional hull. The ride ,space and fuel efficiency is unbeatable. Fantastic boat👍

Re: My Dream Boat Build Thread 29 Freeman
The boat is now 2-1/2 years old, and has over 600 hours on it ... has been to the Bahamas half a dozen times. We usually stay a few days and bring all our food, etc. I have now made 4 crossings with eggs. No special packing - just put them on top of the other food in the food hatch. No broken eggs yet.
On one of our trips the weather got crummy and we had to head back into some pretty nasty stuff. We were putzing along a 20 knots, having to steer of avoid falling off the back side of some of the worst waves, when we overtook larger monohull making about 12 knots with their foul weather gear on - looking like they were taking a beating. When we got closer to the coast the girls that made the crossing on E-searider beanbags on the back of my boat complained that they were hot - not a drop of water ever hit them. On a trip to the keys last year for lobster season, a police car came whipping into the launch area right behind me - my bride thought we were in for it. Turns out the officer had never seen a Freeman and was all excited to get a look at one up close. I'm told that the wait is now over 2 years for a new one, and I've had offers recently for more that I paid for the boat. I guess you could say I'm happy with the purchase. |

Nice boat and glad it's holding up well! Sounds comfortable for the long runs required in Louisiana and setup nicely for freediving, scuba, and bottom fishing.
