Moved Inland (SE Idaho) Looking for Freshwater Opportunities
So I moved to Soda Springs this winter and I'm looking for some spearing options in either Utah or Wyoming.
Sounds like the vis is really hit or miss in Utah? Any rules to go by as far as best times in places. Kinda sucks that gamefish (bass) don't open until later in the summer because I've found the best visibility in early spring in most places before the ski boaters show up. How about lakes around Pinedale WY? They are only a couple of hours from me and high elevation lakes can often have good visibility. Any other advice so I don't end up driving 5 hours to a lake that is just blown out. . . Thanks, Kelpy |

Re: Moved Inland (SE Idaho) Looking for Freshwater Opportunities
There are a lot of good opportunities in utah and wyoming. Have only dove one lake in wyoming but have dove most of the lakes open to spearing in utah.
Visibility is often dependent on the weather, and boat activity. It does tend to get a little worse later in the summer due to algal blooms. Kind of hard to explain every lake, but for the most part fish start to show up in the spring when water gets into the mid 50s. Where you are a ways away from most places I would get on the vis reports and watch the weather.

Could use a little help promoting this World Spearfishing Event. Our US team still has opening for women and Juniors and Masters 60+ But our foreign divisions have lots of opening. Please review the web site above and call me with any questions I really appreciate the help in passing this on Mike McGuire 970-216-5902 |
