2006 St. Pete Open
It is time again to update this thread for the current year's tourney. This year's dates are August 18-20. The tournament is going to be held at the Holiday Inn Sunspree by Maximo Park in south St. Pete. This is the world's best spearfishing tournament with an impressive history of world record shooters competing for the largest single fish. The prize ceremony is what makes this tournament so attractive for shooters of all levels. The prize table is loaded with gear and there are numerous categories and mystery ticket drawings that keep people in the seats until the last prize is drawn. The sponsor drive is now on so if you would like information on how to become a sponsor, contact a SPUC member.

Re: 2006 St. Pete Open
Have you guys made the SPO arrangements with the Holiday Inn yet? I remember last year that you had to make your reservation by telephone (not online) to get the better deal that you negotiated.

I believe I heard at last nights meeting that negotiatons to get the best deal with the resort are currently underway and should be completed in the next week or so. |

Re: 2006 St. Pete Open
We have discontinued jello shots, since Marcus does not have an available pocket after he takes his shirt off.
Actually, I am not sure of the status right now. Being at the Holiday Inn Sunspree, they are very particular about any non Holiday Inn supplied "beverages". We do have some weight with them this year, since we accounted for over 100 room rentals last year on a Saturday night where they are typically damn near empty. That does not include all of the wives/girlfriends (or boyfriends, Marcus) that rented rooms on Friday night. Stay tuned. |

I'm getting a room this year, but the location will be kept secret.
Sorry, Inlet and Marcus. You two can get your own skank room!! I'm bringing the insulated Big Gulp Jug for my alcohol. |

Re: 2006 St. Pete Open
I will be renting a room again for my wife and kids.
Can it be kind of just an understanding that they look the other way? They may lose a few drink sales, but will sure make it up in other ways. But then again if the SPO wasn't there, none of us would be there to spend our money anyway. From what Denny said, they were very happy with how well it went and how cool everyone was. If they want to make some more money, tell them to keep the restaurant open. |

Re: 2006 St. Pete Open
If it were possible to buy the kegs directly from Holiday Inn, that would solve their concerns and the problem with hauling the kegs in...
I'm SURE beer funnels are not only allowed, but encouraged. |
