Roogie is the man! You’ll have a great time with him, tell him hey for me.
I use the Hawaiian sling, I feel like I have better range with it and as long as you’re only shooting reef fish you wont loose the shaft, the groupers tend to just rock up when you shoot them and its also just a lot of fun. But some people love the polespear. I would purchase one and give it a shot, there not very expensive. But take your polespear if that’s what you’re used to also.
I stay at emerald palms when down there which is right next to where you’ll be. Yea the reef is pretty close. I would say maybe even only 200 yards, and I have shot nice fish there but you really need to go out a little farther maybe 300-400 yards to find better fish.
You’ll get some good fish! Good luck.

Hello Kyle,
I'm heading to one of your favorite destinations soon. My family and I are going to South Andros April 3 - 10. We have Captain Rogge booked April 7 for a day of freediving.
I wanted to ask your opinion on hawaiin sling versus polespearing. I have an 8' Aaron Crist polespear but have never used a hawaiin sling. You seem to have fantastic results with the sling though and its got me thinking maybe I should purchase one before our trip.
We rented a house thats two minutes from the Congotown Airport and its right on the water. I read in one of your post that you and your friend did some shore diving. After looking at Google Earth it seems that the reef is about 300 yards from the beach how far would you suggest I go beyond the reef to start diving?
If I get just one black for the week I'll be happy! Thanks for the advice.
