I started fishing in NJ very young then started fishing in Florida, NC, and the Bahamas after college. You meet a lot of people in the industry and it is fairly easy to find boats travelling mexico and Bahamas if you are just starting out. After you have done a few seasons of that you will have a decent resume and then basically bug people. I got almost every captain in Australia's e-mail off of a web page and sent them all my resumes. Jersey is a great place to be in the summer to make connections, Florida is where you need to be in the winter, but don't get stuck there!
