Damn that confirms a couple theories of mine .Thanks ,talk to ya soon.Slack tide is when I shot my 54 pounder.Very shallow.90 foot bottom.Thats also when I saw 100s of wsb milling in hospital kelp.
In any case, I'm sticking with my theory that low tides in the spring spike water temps and bring the bait and whites up to feed. Slacks are when people are seeing the fish. It seems like the NW corner and nook at the dome. I've shot my last four WSB in almost exactly the same spot, so I think there is something to the location. It must be some sort of current line/ambush point. The current truly rips just outside and slacks just inside. I've also notice an abundance of sharks in the area, so that must mean something too.
I know of some guys getting them relatively close in on the NW corner. I think it's the non-slack current option, from what I can tell.
I've heard of a few taken from Barn kelp and none thusfar from Point Loma.
I'll send you a pic, but I can't figure it out on Spearboard. Send me your e-mail address.
he is stoked on it. i dont know if he has used it at all. i think he is gonna cut the shaft short, thread it, and throw on a double flopper wth a breakaway and useit as a hali gun. ill let you know hw it works out for him.
