Re: Flopper Tuning Tool!

Cool idea. I have been using a nail pulling plier to do the same thing. I feel I have more control over how much I deform the flopper edge with a criming tool than whacking it (although I have done...

Re: Lionfish

It never ceases to amaze me how the lionfish don't even blink even when their partners are being slayed right next to them...

Arround here we have "Scorpaena scrofa"...

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius 100 invert rollers

I know about the soldering iron trick but I have my doubts it is going to work with long screws. Chances are the heat will dissipate too much before getting to the tip of the screw...

I am a fan...

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius 100 invert rollers

I don't get it... Do you pre-drill, smear the screw with epoxy, screw it in and take it out to let it cure...???

Because my understanding is that if you leave the screw in while the it cures, the...

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius 100 invert rollers

Awesome, as usual. And I am glad to see also some pictures of the process.

Have you considered using Torx head screws instead of PZ? I have the feeling that they give the driver bit a more...

Re: WOOD GUN: Refinishing gun for a friend

Well, that is partially true... but the gun shape itself was perfectly fine. The mech was ok, so I guess it was worth saving.

Let's see how it ends, I need the owner to decide about the vinil...

Re: WOOD GUN: Refinishing gun for a friend

PROCESS
And now let's get to work...

Removing all crap to bare wood. Slack belt on the belt grinder works wonders for convex areas. Concave areas must be done by hand and/or Dremel with a sanding...

WOOD GUN: Refinishing gun for a friend

Hi there,

This thread is also about someone elses gun. A guy from my spearfishing club bought this gun (cheap) because as you can see is meant for lefties.

The thing is that it had a few issues...

Re: Salvimar Hero & Hero Storm test

Great review!

Right now I am more into wood guns but if I ever come across one of these models in the second hand market... I might just get it to replace some older aluminium models I have lying...

Re: Wholesale Parts?

Regarding the hand shaping... Do not. Even if you are not CNC equipped, if you are making guns then you must have one or several routers. Make templates you can screw to your laminated/trued up...

Re: Wholesale Parts?

Your best chance to make a bussiness making guns if you are not CNC equipped, is not trying to compete with mass produced guns.

You have to sell the "handcrafted + each-one-is-unique +...

Re: Spectra wishbones for small ID bands?

Oh! And regarding the know, instead of an overhand know, I make a diamond knot. Rounder shape, a bit bigger (required if you use 1,5mm dyneema,) and never got one pull out.

Re: 17.5mm rubber?

When I cut rubber I try to be conservative. You can always cut a bit more if you find them too soft... but if you are too short from the start... you just wasted a fair piece of rubber. You can...

Re: Open Muzzle - Line Wrap Question

I see what you are talking about and I will be concerned about the leverage on the internals of the mech. And yes, if the roof of the mech deforms enough, it might let go. The thing is that for the...

Amazing... I would be pulling up on that rope so hard that the guys in the safety boat might think they just hooked a friggin Kraken....

That video looks awesome... and visibility, for what I am used to, is not bad AT ALL.

We are also using 7mm suits right now... cannot wait to put on the 5mm and ditch some lead from my waist...

Re: Figuring Out Shaft Size

Never used a battery powered caliper but I see how they could come handy. More so if your eyesight is no longer so great.

Will have to look into a pair of nice Mitutoyo for Christmas... :D

Re: S-Wing Foot Pocket Molding

I am soooo glad it worked well for you.

And yes, try not to overdoit, otherwise it would be difficult to shrink it back.

The solution (if you find them too loose for whatever reason) is to wear...

Re: S-Wing Foot Pocket Molding

The problem with the first approach (foot inside the footpocket) is that you can only heat the material from the inside. The rubber or EPDM does not conduct heat very well, which means that you will...

Re: Figuring Out Shaft Size

I don't think I fully understand what you are trying to say.

The OP has a few shafts liying arround and he wants to know what size are they. The length it is easy, as he just needs a tape measure....

Re: Figuring Out Shaft Size

I understand he is referring to speargun shafts.

For big round pieces such as pipes, a tape measure could be perfectly aceptable.

Re: Spectra wishbones for small ID bands?

I use the nylon cord used to fix fishing nets. I wax it with a candle before tying and the ends can be burned. Never had a problem and does not get any cheaper.

I checked the kevlar product you...
