Re: SEAL physical screening test question

Sidestroke is the way to go. You'll conserve more energy for the pushups, pullups, situps and run than if you swim freestyle or breaststroke and a sub 9 (which is a competitive score) is not out of...

Re: Best place to buy Moana carbon fins?

You can go through JD. We also sell them at James & Joseph here in San Diego.
We have them on our website as well.

That's a piece of art man. Nice work. I'd buy it if I had the money.

Re: Riffe Padauk Competitor

Dude you should seriously take the advice you've already been given and go see Petros, or come down to SD and see me at James & Joseph. It sounds like Petros is close to you so seeing him would...

Re: Riffe Padauk or JBL Sawed off Woody Magnum for socal

If you were to go with a JBL, a Rob Allen or Wong reel could be added to the gun. That being said I agree with what Josh and some of the other guys are saying. Get a 90cm Euro Gun (i.e. Pathos or Rob...

Re: Is a 36" AB Biller too big for a total spearfishing newbie?

Billers are pretty bulky guns, and the shafts on those things are overkill for norcal in my opinion. A 70-80cm Eurogun is the way to go. That being said if the deal is that good, go for it.

Parking in La Jolla?

Dove La Jolla the other day and all I could find was 3 hour parking. Are there any all day spots relatively close to the CP area?

Re: 3mm in SD?

It sounds like a 7mil suit is a safer bet. Thanks for all the help.

3mm in SD?

I'll be in San Diego in a few weeks to do some FII Courses with Martin Stepanek and am wondering if I could get away with a 3mm suit down there in September. I have a beat up 7mm that I get cold in...

Re: Monterey Bay Triton Meeting November 3, 2012

I don't know I've never had the problem you're describing, nor have I heard of anyone else having that problem. You should be fine with a 7mm Top and Bottom. But new, this suit went for like $500....

Re: Monterey Bay Triton Meeting November 3, 2012

$250 for this suit in a 7mm is a seriously good deal. You could mix 5mm pants, with a 7mm Top, but I don't see why you would. What do you mean by overlap?

Re: Monterey Bay Triton Meeting November 3, 2012

Get a 7mm Freedive suit like Bryan suggested. That's the way to go for around here and is pretty much a must have if you plan on heading to the North Coast for Abs and fish also.

There's a lot of...

Re: Wetsuits for the tall and thin

Look into Riffe and Yazbeck suits. They both do Tall sizes. I'm 6'2" 170lbs and I wear a 52 Tall Yazbeck. You'll get a better deal on a Yazbeck too, the Riffe suits are pretty expensive. Just call...

Mendocino Vis Reports?

Has anyone dove Mendo the last couple days? The conditions were EPIC for the Triton X and I'm wondering if conditions held. I'd be happy if it was even half as good as it was last weekend. I'm trying...

Most of us will probably be diving Stillwater on kayaks. I'm sure there will be guys shorediving places like Otter and Butterfly house too though if you don't have a yak.

Re: Carmel 08/26/12 + PB Ling

Haha we'll see about that. I think I've only entered an olive and a Kelpy so far. I need to do some serious spearing the next few meets if I'm gonna win. See you on the 8th.

Re: Carmel 08/26/12 + PB Ling

He got one of those 3 prong polespears that doesn't have the barbs on the prongs, so if you aren't quick to secure the fish they can easily slide off. He let that happen a couple times so I let him...

Re: Carmel 08/26/12 + PB Ling

I actually did get a little cold after a while. I'm not sure if that's because it was cold that day or if it's because my suits compressed. A 7mm suit would help you stay warmer a lot longer in...
