Re: San Salvidor Bahamas

Many monster wahoo on the north side of the island. I am also told that there are also monster sharks to go with them.

If I was you I would take your gear. Most of the islands out there have some...

Re: Heading Back To The Bahama Out Islands

Mike:

Sounds great. I should be based out of Georgetown and probably anchored back around Crab Cay in 'Redshanks" whenever I am in the Georgetown area.

With Nigel's cat, it might be an easier...

Re: Hoseless Computer, Who uses? Opinions?

Have used the hoseless computers on and off since they first came out in the late 1990's (I think). Never had a problem with them as long as I changed out the battery when I should.

I have been...

Re: Heading Back To The Bahama Out Islands

Tiny:

I had lunch with Bob Cockerham a week ago. I grabbed several more of his latest pole spears that are even more bullet proof than the ones I already have. Bob is no longer making pole spears...

Re: Looking for band upgrade suggestions

Make your own bands, it is easy to do. I use 1/2" speargun band rubber. I like it because it has a thicker wall that the usual band rubber used on pole spears and gives me more power for the length...

Re: Pole Spear Weight

Good stuff:

I typically use pole spears that are a minimum of 8 ft. long and usually 9' tp 11'. So I am completely onboard with the fact that fish don't care how close the tip comes to them. I...

Re: Gatku vs. Sea Stinger Slip tip?

I used some sea stinger tips years ago and had a lot of problems with them. When I tried to contact the company I never even got a reply so I stopped using them.

I think you have a winner with the...

Re: Heading Back To The Bahama Out Islands

Lunker:

In the out islands the fruit and veg that does come to the islands is usually not that fresh or good. The best stuff is what is grown locally by the women in their individual gardens. They...

Re: Heading Back To The Bahama Out Islands

Thanks for the welcome back. Once the boat is squared away I hope to be on here more often. The main problem will be internet access. I have a tendancy to stay in the out island areas that are pretty...

Heading Back To The Bahama Out Islands

I have not been posting on the board for a while for a number of reasons, but now I would like to get active again. My main love is pole spear hunting in the out island areas of the southern Bahamas...

Re: Pole Spear Weight

I think that besides the weight & mass, a lot of pole spear users don't power up their pole spear as much as they can so that no matter if it is a light pole or a heavy pole, they are not really...

Re: Pole Spear Weight

The heavier spears have more mass which will create more punch. I really don't think you can just judge a pole spear by this one factor. You have to take into consideration the length of the spear...

With all the diving you are doing now that you are retired, I am not surprised that you are finding a lot of stuff on the bottom!

Re: Terrible customer service from OMER

Bubba:

I have used the Cressi's for both scuba and free diving and they work great for both. I just don't use them when I am teaching because they get in the way a bit for certain exercises.
