Re: WOOD GUN: Refinishing gun for a friend

Outstanding work. So much time and effort has been invested into this gun. I have found it can be quicker to just make a new one but I commend you on a job very well done.

Re: Prop verses a roller gun

Heavy experience Marcus. People often ask if sharks are my main concern. Mine is boat strikes. I have had commercial fishos run over my float line ripping my gun out of my hand. I was less than 40m...

Re: Prop verses a roller gun

True that Pete. The Eucalypt the original gun was made from is a very tough timber. To snap it like that is terrify when compare the frail human body.

Re: Carbon stringers

Carbon stringers are far more abrasive than I expected. They chewed up one of my thickness plane blades. Tried it with a tungsten router straightening jig with more success though it took the edge...

Re: 1.5m Blue water

G'day mate, long time no see.
Thanks for your assistance. I found the BCC and it does post an image but it is HUGE! I need to work out how to make the images a lot smaller.

Cheers.

Hey Calmete.

It has been a long time since I have been on here.
I love the shape you are developing and the organic hand shaping is so aesthetically pleasing to me.

I do have some concerns...

Re: Painting guns question

Soften all edges more. Also apply a very thin coat, allow to go to tack and them apply additional coats. The corners will build up coverage where thick coats usually don't work.

Re: 1.5 Deep Reef speargun

Hi SpearQ8

This gun has 3 layers of carbon fibre and one red/black sleeve. These are a bugger to work with. The glass resists changing shape and care must be taken to ensure it does not make a...

Re: Speargun build paint job

I would advise doing a test sample on some scrap and try the epoxy over it. Not all paints are suitable for epoxy bonding. (you can check the manufacturer's specifications for this)

Another...

Re: RIB gun rack

Inflatable Systems Australia do mine. Fast and good.
I have found the adhesive does not store well. I often buy new adhesive prior to big trips and in 6 months time throw them out as they expire.

This is...
