Re: Sea of Cortez action when there is none!

Sorry man, I don't have real insights. I have seen the Hawaiians attracting wahoo by throwing spoons (yes, soup spoons) and/or PVC pipes wrapped with fish stickers but I can't speak from experience.

Re: Sea of Cortez action when there is none!

I use the glove wiggling trick with yellows, but he was slapping the water for red Pargo (and caught half a dozen within 1hr). Then again, he dives daily so he would probably catch a bunch...

Re: Sea of Cortez action when there is none!

Awesome video Rene!
I was in Vallarta las week and caught some nice red and yellow Pargo. The local guy I dove with used this trick of slapping water on surface before dropping and sweared that...

Re: differences between open cell and closed cell wetsuits.

I started with a scuba wetsuit (like most of us) and, although this is my subjective opinion, I felt it was more constrictive once you get to deeper waters and also during breathups. Essentially I...

Re: 140 cm triple band vs 140cm single roller

I have a 3 banded 140 aluminum Euro and the recoil is minimal. But it has a thicker 32mm pipe with more mass, so that might help with the recoil.

Cool videos from your buddy, thanks for sharing!

Re: 140 cm triple band vs 140cm single roller

Maybe earlier versions were flimsy, the current BW models are really nice and the trigger mech is really solid. I would get the Power model if you want a thicker shaft. The power slip version looks...

Re: 140 cm triple band vs 140cm single roller

I have that gun on the 120 conventional model and it's really great. If you get the 140 I would go for the "power" version and switch to an 8mm shaft (comes with a 7.5mm shaft rather than the 7mm for...

Re: Salvimar suits vs Yamamoto suits

I had a NAT 3mm and it's the worst neoprene I have owned. It fit me like a glove when new, but after just a week doing 60-80ft dives in HI it got deformed and thin, then the leg cuffs got all...

Re: How To Avoid Blisters?

Reviving an old thread as I just saw this (yep, not much going on on spearboard!).
