Plastic or X soft FG/carbon.
Someone's older pair of gara 2000s would be perfect.

Dove in town, 2 foot vis with slightly larger waves. Vis was almost ok at the surface, but completely blacked out on the bottom.

Dove goleta from 3:30-5 today, moderate surge and 3-4 feet of vis outside the kelp, hazy 2.5 in the kelp with a layer of cold water on the bottom.

Dove northern goleta on saturday, 3-7 outside the kelp and a dark hazy 4 in the bed. Fish were pretty scarce, but I did bump into a 27" hali. Conditions in town this evening looked pretty miserable.

Pretty much any spot with rocks and kelp will have urchins. The larger red ones are better, i don't think many people eat the purples

pretty sure any invert with a size limit you need to have a legal size gauge while taking them. I think similar to abs you can't just have a larger gauge, it actually needs to be 4" on the dot

dove off of SB today, amazing conditions, we were spotting bugs and opaleye from the boat while we geared up.

dove " SUP point" today from 5:45-7:15
1-4 feet of vis very minimal surge, saw 3 short bugs the entire dive
Lots of cabs, crabs and rockfish out
stabbed a grassy that had a kelpfish sticking out...

They are great, IMO one of the best tasting fish in our waters. I usually scale and gut them, then grill them whole wrapped in foil with soy sauce and butter. You could treat the fillets the same...

Probably too late, But I had a similar problem with an omer suit I bought.
I poured a bunch of very hot water into it and that mostly fixed the problem.

I have a mercury 3.4 with a 15hp johnson,
Even loaded down with 3 divers, weight belts gas can and coolers, It bounces way too much in chop for any kind of hard gun/gear rack.

Dove in SB last night, we didn't get in the water until 11, so the tide was pretty low, small waves, moderate surge 1-4 feet of vis. One short halibut some reef fish, and a bunch of rays and leopard...
