question about a float line setup
new to all this so bare with my questions
when i have my dive float and flag...should the line be attached to me, or the gun/polespear. To me it makes no sense to hook it to me since i can just get it snagged on something... |

The floatline is mostly design to help you land a fish without loosing your gear, and your float is for visibility unless you are shooting big fish. So you attach one end of your floatline to your float and the other end to the butt of your gun, unless you have a break away set up (where one end of the floatline is attached to the shooting line and you keep your gun in hand after taking the shot). You do not want or need to attach the floatline to you, imagine a stupid boater running over your floatline and pulling you with it.. not good. I read that in rare ocasions a diver would attach a floatline to them for example when they have a buddy on the surface and the diver is shooting bigger fish with a reel, if the diver gets in to trouble the buddy can retrieve him, but it is very rare and it is done for blue water and when viz is really good. Glad you asked. |
