Flying Sharks in New Smyrna

wow. great shots! i live in new smyrna and surf at the inlet regularly and see spinners jumping like that pretty much every time i go. but that is the first one i have seen on camera

I surf at New Smyrna but not at the inlet, (I'm not very good) I do see sharks but never seen one jump like that, that is awsome.

I grew up in NSB, class of '78'. The Safari Club statue on the boradwalk was put up the following year. I was one of its first members!

Why do you think they call it shark shallow. Biggest Tiger I have ever caught was right just outside the outside break.

It really does not surprised me,Volusia county has the most unprovoked sharks attack record in USA,so Shark up there are a bit more "hungry" ?I would say... I know the tread is not about shark attacks but it plays a role every year.

In Brevard, it should really be called most shark bites versus attacks. We all know how and why it happens. Dirty water, surfing/swiming in the middle of a bait pod, etc.

I am thinking the fact that a 15' tiger right outside is proof that they really do not want to eat us - otherwise they would , because that fish could.

A year or so ago, while doing some turtle research, a friend of mine reported netting an 11, 9, and 7' tiger in the lagoon just south of sebasitan inlet (black point area). You are talking 6' of water at high tide. What amazes me more than the grey guys in the ocean, is in the estuaries. We have bulls that come into pup. Friend of mine saw a 5' bull in the troughs up by Pine Island. What alligators?

all the fish in my avatar are giant trevally or "GT" s there were tons of them and i had no spearing gear with me that day. its amazing how fish can tell when you dont have a gun haha.
