Need to get my comanche 100 usable
Long-time lurker, but this is my 1st post so "hello" to everyone and many thanks for all the helpful info for us newbies.
Having gone diving whenever the visibility complies over the past year, I've absolutely enjoyed using my hawaiian sling. Recently, my compadres convinced me to get my 1st gun a few weeks back. The very 1st time I took it out (Comanche 100): #1: I'm too much of a weakling to load it myself with the stock rubber. I need to get some looser rubber while I build up better technique as well as strength. Can someone suggest a suitable width / length and place from which to order these screw-in bands? #2: Lost the shaft on my 1st shot - factory crimp was apparently done poorly. I believe I need a "european" notch. Again, length and place to order would be great. The stock one seems a bit pricey - where can I order replacement shafts of the correct length? I called up my local shop where they sell this very gun but don't seem to have any accessories in stock so I'm open to all online options. Any help would be much appreciated! |

Where are you located? I have the screw on bands in stock. Measure yours and let me know what the gun came with. I Also have the euro notched shafts in stock.

I'm in Santa Monica...though currently traveling. Irvine is bit far to just "swing by" but I'd love to support a somewhat local shop. I will email you measurements when I get back.

Re: Need to get my comanche 100 usable
You want a shaft from 130cm to 140cm I think they come with a 6mm shaft. You might want to get the shorter one if your planning on using a weaker band. The rubber will loosen up on its own after a few uses so you might want to keep that in mind. I have a 110 Comanche and the Mako spearguns euro shaft works. If you ever shoot anything sizable Halibut WSB, or YT your going to want to buy a bungee for the shooting line. Although with one band you will need to be very close to have a chance at landing it. I attached mine in the little hole under the line guide. the loading pad sucks on those guns so you might want to use a flip flop under your wetsuit or a folded up t-shirt will help you when chest loading the gun. That guns is easy to modify and you can use a 7mm or 7.5 mm shaft and 2x16mm bands if you need to when you get better. For a inexpensive entry level gun they work. Had mine for 7 or 8 years killed hundreds of fish with it.

Hey Petros - I called the shop today because my buddy was in Irvine so he picked up both the shaft and looser bands for me. Many thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I'm digging up an old flipflop now. That gun is just killer on my virgin chest. As above, sent my buddy with gun specs and my "special needs" to spear america so hopefully I'll be good to go.
