Cabo San Lucas in July
Hey guys,
I'm headed to Cabo San Lucas this July for my bachelor party. I'm curious if any of you have gone spearfishing there? I found one company that does charters there: http://www.spearfishingbaja.mx I know Cabo is not the ideal Baja destination for spearfishing, but I'm hoping to dive and shoot some fish while I'm there. Do you think it's worth it to go with a company that charters, or are there accessible reefs in and around Cabo that we could dive on our own? Or perhaps you know of a short day trip from Cabo that would be better? Any insights or leads you have are greatly appreciated. Cheers |

Re: Cabo San Lucas in July
Head up the coast for a couple of hours to LaPaz or La Ventana on the Sea of Cortez side if you want to get out into some bluewater fish. Tim at Palapas Ventana has a lot of spearos come through, and knows what they need. He is a little pricey, but his captains speak some English, http://www.palapasventana.com/
Pacific side is a little bit colder, but you may be able to find some reef fish like pargo, grouper, pompano, and there is always the possibility of a YT swimming by. I would try to get a bit away from Cabo, into a less populated area. Here is a Sea of Cortez YT from a couple of summers ago (Mulege area).
