Hi Cali spearos, Here's an FYI from an Oregon spearo that visits San Diego a few times a year to visit fam and has made a few friends in SAN. Link to trip report about 3 Oregon spearos bagging 9 Albacore in one fantastic day of dive-bombing tuna boils, feeding frenzies and many shots taken.

Epic!! Congrats, what an accomplishment! You defiantly put in the time and earned it! What tuna cannon was your buddy using?

OP: Sorry, can't buy one - it's a custom one he made. has something like 10 bands, shoots 90 feet at 200 mph. or is it 5 bands, can't remember. ;-)

BTW - didn't mention all the non-tuna life we saw: whales, seals, schools of juvenile mola-mola aka sunfish, adult sunfish, blue sharks, spanish mackerel by the tens of thousands, diving birds, jellyfish, clouds of tiny baitfish, oh and thieving seagulls.

great action, especially filmed from below. love the dolphins showing up at the end for final snacks! thanks for the cool post- makes me want to get out up in OR!
