Fill BFT boat slots so I can go Sunday 6/18
Hi - BFT are happening offshore San Diego. So I'm flying down from Oregon this Friday. Just made reservations on Gato Loco spear charter boat out of the J&J shop.
As of this am Wed, there are still openings on the boat online http://www.jamesandjoseph.com/charters-tours/ $300 for a longgg day of hunting on a fast 4-pack, with an expert captain. Talked to J&J today about likely conditions. 70 +lb bluefin are right near surface and plentiful. Very large bluefin are around too, a bit deeper dives to get 'em. Sea conditions forecast is nice and placid. THERE IS ONE SLOT OPEN on SATURDAY committed boat trip. However 2 SLOTS need filling to justify the Sunday boat trip. $300 for a full-day of hunting. Get on there! it should be epic. Leigh Last edited by quattroluvr; 06-14-2017 at 06:42 PM. |

haha, try living in a place where the biggest fish you can spear is a 34" Ling cod or a frick'in 30 lb carp! and sea conditions are usually damn tough even in summer, and 8' of viz is considered 'good'. Last summer, we couldn't even get everything to line up even once for Oregon offshore Albacore.
Not to mention I get to spend time with my super adorable grandson and his dad in San Diego! So count your Cali fishiness blessings Dude! |

Two days thank you very much!
But I'll take it as a compliment that you thought we could crush 20 slugs in one day

Re: Fill BFT boat slots so I can go Sunday 6/18
the captain dropped us us on tuna sign a bunch of times, like a dozen or more sites, but the tuna were so diffuse, and on the move, we only had about a half dozen sightings and only a few hail mary shots taken. Zero tuna taken. Zero boils. zero bait balls to he had, though we covered a LOT of ground searching. Even the 8-10 kelp patties we found were barren except for a single patty with a few small YT's that one guy got got one of. The action was much more concentrated and 'boily' i think just a few days prior. Oh well, if you don't try...
