ARS opened Wednesday???
Where's all the "I slayed the crap out of the endangered ARS" posts? Ok, I'll start the thread. Got a late start on them, didn't go till today, went out of PC, ventured ten miles out this time (wife gave me extra gas money ). Seas were a bit bumpy, weather was great, viz sucked.....maybe ten feet. Limited out on our first drop..nothing spectacular size wise just your basic 19 to 21 inchers. Li'l Bait is holding the biggest one, he nailed both of his right through the eyes. Doesn't make for a nice photo, but it's great on the filets.

Re: ARS opened Wednesday???
Went on Wed in Chili's mule looking for the big ones. We were too choosy, so ended up not reaching our limit. Made up with it in Blacks. But Chili's boat is now OOC. Went out in my boat on Fri. Got our limit on rod and reel and then dove one tank on a roll over. Guess no one ever dove it before. Three legal-size grouper followed me around, taunting me. They must have received the reg change. Did come up with doormat triggers and another black. On my way up, saw what I thought was another structure. Nope, just a very large gag. Didn't make it back to the dock under power. Now my boat is OOC.

Re: ARS opened Wednesday???
Seasick2 (Matt) and I went out thursday and hit 4 stops. 3 of them did not have anything on it and had crappy vis to boot. The 2nd stop had some nice 18-21" snappers on it, but we were looking for the bigger ones. Matt shot one nice one, but I didn't even pull the trigger on one. His weighed in @ 10.5lbs.
When we were leaving the first stop, another boat pulled up and was saying that they were everywhere on that wreck the weekend before. I guess the snapper got the memo about opening day. We only saw a couple and they were short. There was some large triggers on it though. Matt tried to stab one with the spear still in his gun in a poke pole kinda way. Almost got it too. It was entertaining. Either way, it was a good time. Started out bumpy, then smoothed out from about 8:00-1:00 and then started getting bumpy again. Next weekend I'm gonna get me a couple big ones. Re: ARS opened Wednesday???
Thursday through Sunday on the Quarter Time out of Orange Beach. Started out way bumpy then slicked off for the remainder of the trip. Dove mostly pyramids 56-90 feet. Zero vis for the first 20' then opened up for tourist pleasing 10-12 on a good spot, less on others. The taxman was present on nearly every dive. I guess he was trying to mke up for an off year. They were large and aggressive, small and aggressive fish steeling bas&$$):/. Twice they swam off with a fish and a shaft. Once was with a line shaft. Otherwise great trip shot our limits nothing bigger than 20-21#. But lots in the 18# range. Ready to go again once my old body recovers.
