One day late dive report
Since it seems like it's a bad idea to give out locations I won't do so right now. But where I dove (should be fairly easy to figure from the pic) had excellant conditions yesterday. I dove for 3.5 hours in the afternoon, ventured far and wide and saw very little sign of "the ghost". Heard one or two croaks, and one possible sighting (flash of silver combined with wishfull thinking), although I think it was a barracuda. My dive buddy shot a nice calico, and so I decided to shoot one as well. It's a new personal best for me, and I estimated him to be around 7lbs. If you guys decide to go, good luck!
-Steve

Re: One day late dive report
That spot is no secret. And with the amount of people that have been hitting it recently. I doubt any info would make a difference.
Nice fish! |

Re: One day late dive report
Steve,
I hope this helps put some perspective on a nice catch. The trick to making the most of the shot is to keep the object behind the fish, usually you, small in comparison to the object in front of it. I was teasing Austin about the WSB in his Avatar as well. Had he held it horizontally instead of vertically and cropped out his lower body, the fish would appear much larger in realtion to the object behind it. Nice Calico!

Re: One day late dive report
the secret is to tense up your face, bulge the muscles and shove the fish out toward the camera even when it weighs 2 pounds.... all my calico pics require two hands to hold up the fish.....

Nice fish, fresh calico bass is delish. Word to the wise: don't post a weight unless you have a scale or your estimate is way lower than what the fish appears to weigh.

Re: One day late dive report
Did I do it right? I think I have the cheesy smile down pretty good. This was taken today at my "secret spot" near by your "secret spot". It was 4.3 lbs, 20 inches long. So I would bet that yours is a little bit heavier than Austin gives you credit for. .
