Cutting down pipe gun?
Anyone have any wisdom on cutting down a pipe gun to a shorter length for murky water or, “soft” fish? Would it be feasible, or would I be smarter to buy a shorter gun? I have a yard sale gun that I won’t use, having bought my, “go-to” gun recently.

Re: Cutting down pipe gun?
By the time you find the correct barrel plug, deal with the potential problem of getting a very old gun apart and then buying a new shaft (and bands), it might make more sense to sell it and just get a new short gun.

Re: Cutting down pipe gun?
That was my thought as well, especially after looking at replacement shaft prices. Plus, who passes up the chance to buy new gear? Thanks for the reply!

Bought a shorter gun. I think the problem’s solved.

Re: Cutting down pipe gun?
I know I'm late here as you have solved your problem by buying new, but I have one Mako enclosed track speargun with 3 different barrel lenghts (80, 110 and 130). I just switch barrels depending on where (what) I'm hunting. Of course you have to change shafts and bands too. But it is easily done.

Re: Cutting down pipe gun?
Yes, and the nozzle. But I save $$$ in the process.

Re: Cutting down pipe gun?
A nozzle cost about 20 bucks. In my opinion, it makes no sense switching it. But anyone on it's own...
