Louisiana State Freediving Championship Rules 2024
1. Registration is open until Midnight, July 17, 2024. Registration fee is $75. Pre-registration by phone or email is allowed. All participants must be known prior to the start of the rodeo. Phone ins- Joe 225-936-9685, email: Jwegmann1@cox.net. or paypal

2. Valid fishing license is required of all participants.
3. Diving is open to all waters.
4. Competition starts Thursday July, 18, 2024 at 12:01 a.m. and ends Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at 600 pm
5. All fish subject to autopsy.
6. Scales open Saturday for the Awards Ceremony , July 20, 2024 430 pm – 600 pm at Hurricane Hole Marina and Resort in Grand Isle
7. All decisions by Rodeo Officials will be final.
8. Headquarters for the Rodeo will be Hurricane Hole Marina and Resort 1851 LA-1 Grand Isle, La 70358 1-985-787-3014
9. No power heads allowed.
10. Fish must be speared and apprehended by Diver without assistance.
11. Fish speared from boats are not eligible.
12. Scuba diving and the use of compressed air are not allowed.
13. The use of detachable floats or “buoys,” is only allowed for Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi. Diver with float may let go of the line and follow the line with the boat, but must retrieve the fish while in the water. Diver must bring the fish and or the line to the boat without assistant. The boat may go to the diver. The diver may not hold on to a down line or to the anchor line when shooting the fish. Any length of line is allowed. Reels and Bungee cords are allowed. Fish must be shot without the aid of compressed air rather active or passive. Bait and Burlee chumming is allowed.
14. Diver must be present for Raffle prizes, Saturday, July 20th. All Sponsor Prizes/Products are to be given away during the Raffle.
15. Offshore landing permit Both non-charter recreational anglers and charter captains are required to obtain this permit (free of charge) to possess tunas, billfish, swordfish, amberjacks, groupers and snappers (except for grey snapper). Anglers wishing to obtain a permit must register at www.wlf.la.gov/rolp. More details on this program are also available on this site.
16. The 3-2-1 point system will be used with ties broken by cumulative weights of fish on these boards.
17. In case of any ties due to weight the earliest fish (es) entered win(s).
18. Eligible fish species/ categories are as follows: Red Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Cobia, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Wild Card Fish ( African Pompano, King Mackerel, Tripple Tail, Any legal snapper besides ARS and Mangrove), and Blue Water (Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi (5lb min).
Competition begins Thursday, July 18 at 12:01 a.m. and ends Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 600 pm
Awards Ceremony will follow at 6:30 pm
Saturday, July 20th--- Weigh-in Day Scales Open Only from 430 pm – 6:00 pm
19. A separate board will be kept for the purpose of tabulating points for the Best Boat Division. The 3-2-1 point system will be used with ties broken by cumulative weights of fish on these boards.

Wow what a year 2024 turned out to be for the Louisiana Freedive Championship!! Cant Thank our Loyal Divers and Sponsors enough for their great support and comradery!! We had some crazy weather and conditions but ultimately had one of the best years ever with regards to participation, sponsor support and big fish shot!!
Please help me to congratulate our winners they definitely earned it !!
