Deep, let me know when you get up here and maybe we can link up. Shoot a limit of walleye in Alcova then grab the fly rods and hit Grey Reef!!

Re: casper

I would keep a big limit on the down low. The local walleye group is upset about the rule change. I could see spearos being hounded by the hook and line guys; most people here are nice but there is always a few.

Re: casper

I am going to try my luck at Alcova, and then Glendo next week from Tuesday 6-3 to 6-5. My warmest suit is a 5 mil open cell so Its going to be a cold one but the warm days we are having should help a little. If anyone is going to be out at either of these lakes and would like to meet up and do some spearing let me know, I would enjoy meeting you.
I will do a trip report when I get back.

Re: casper

Pargo,
There are lots of suckers and big carp in Alcova to practice on. Look for the suckers sitting vertically on submerged walls (like bats or something. weird fish). Also look above you as you ascend. The trout always seemed to be suspended mid-water column when I was there.

Dove Glendo last weekend. Water is still pretty chilly. My son landed his first catfish though

Re: casper

Thanks for the tips sticknrelease, This is my first time there so I need all the help I can get.

Hey scubadown16, Good to here the cats are around at Glendo, looks like a nice one your son got, that is my wife's favorite fish to eat so we plan to target those as much as possible

Re: casper

Been getting my gear ready for the trip to Alcova and Glendo. I thought I had a solution to the "flag must be displayed no less than 3' above the surface of the water" rule with a 4' fiberglass rod I found in a garden center and the 12"x12" rubberized nylon flag that came with the float. I decided to fill the bath tub to see if the float would stay upright but no such luck LOL no way this thing is going to be stable in the wind, it's just too top heavy even with 6 pounds of weight in the bottom of the float. I'm going to try using the top half of an old fishing rod to lighten this thing up but what I really need is a Fox float. Hey Justin I will be driving past Fort Collins tomorrow morning about 5:00 are you up by then? LOL seriously though Ive got to get one of those floats from you they look like they would be way more stable with a four foot pole and flag than the round torpedo shaped floats I have now.

Re: casper

There is a 5:00 in the morning too?

The tall flags are a challenge for the Reef Float in the wind, but the Delta handles them pretty well.
