Burmese Teak Cutting Boards

I recently finished building a batch of Burmese Teak End Grain Cutting Boards. These boards were made using old growth teak that was reclaimed from cruise ships which were recently decommissioned or refurbished. Two of the ships the teak came from were the MS Wind Song and the MS Veendam which were operated by the Holland America line.

Properties: Burmese teak is very water resistant compared to other hard woods like Cherry, Black Walnut, Maple, and Oak. Also, end grain boards are more resistant to knife marks compared to edge grain boards. Burmese teak is also known for its multi colored end grain which can often have orange/apricot and olive green in it. Wood cutting boards won’t dull your knives like plastic/synthetic boards can. These cutting boards will give many years of service with proper care a maintenance.

Finish: The boards are sanded with 6 different sandpaper grits which produces a super smooth glass like finish. I then apply a liberal coat of foot grade mineral oil that soaks deep into the end grain which helps protect the wood. I then apply a coat of “board butter” (which is also food grade) and is made using mineral oil and bees wax.

Gifting: Historically, the Christmas season is the most popular time for selling cutting boards as they are a moderately priced useful gift that will be used year round. Some folks who purchase these boards say they are just too beautiful to cut on them so they only use them for “presentation” or as a ‘charcuterie” meat/cheese board. Each board has a totally unique look as the end grain patterns that are just as individual as a human fingerprint.

Product Features: All cutting boards have a “juice groove” to capture and hold meat juices. All boards also have a “finger groove” on the ends of the board that makes the boards easier to pick up. I also include a 4oz tin of our cutting board conditioner and a detailed instruction sheet for care and maintenance.

Pricing:
Small boards range from $150.00 to $195.00
Medium size boards range from $225.00 to $300.00
Large “Kitchen Island” size boards are $400.00

For pictures and exact dimensions of the boards you can email me at oceanrhino@gmail.com or text me at 727-743-7686 (Kevin)

You can pick up locally at my shop in Pinellas Park, Florida or I can’t ship by UPS anywhere in lower 48 USA (at buyers expense). Credit card payment is ok.
