which euro gun?
I was thinking of picking up a new 110cm euro gun. I narrowed it down to three guns- Rob Allen, Omer Caymen HF, and Beuchat Marlin Carbon, Which of these is the best choice for reef hunting?

Re: which euro gun?
Choosing between 3 different Euros is like choosing between 3 different .22 long rifles. They'll all achieve the same result, it's just what feels best to you. Get your hands on all 3, and see what's the most comfortable.
Personally, I love my Cayman, with the Marlin that I tested in a close 2nd. I sold that RA Green Handle I had. You might put them in the opposite order. I say get your hands on them, and you choose.

Re: which euro gun?
Like twentytwomonk says find some one around you that has those guns and go try them out in the water.
First hand input is much better than what input I could give you. I have a Rabitech Apex cf 120cm and I love it. I tryed my friends Jbl and that made my mind up. |

Re: which euro gun?
110 rabi apex carbon...is what I use.A 110 rob allen would be ok I guess. You should look at the 110 aluminum rabis from sumora.com you can get a reel put on it also (110/w reel is a SICK combo).

Re: which euro gun?
id go with the beuchat, i havnt used the marlin yet, but from my experiences with the mundial they are an extremely reliable gun, and the handle/mech will take some abuse !
ive shot quite a few AP's in the 20lb-25lb range with a standard beuchat spear also, never had any bends in it and those are really strong fighting fish. |

Re: which euro gun?
Riffe euro x is a step up from all of those just feel it in your hand and you can tell the difference.

Re: which euro gun?
The Omer offers a stronger barrel with more mass. The Cayman handle is by far the most intuitively accurate design I have seen or used to date. In addition to that the ability to easily add the Omer match 50 reel makes it even harder to dismiss.

Re: which euro gun?
What Dave says is true, it's all about feel, so if that's the case, why not get a custom euro gun to your needs? Two gun makers stand out in my head right now when I think of custom wooden euros... Steve Veros from poseidonsub.com and Gil Gacula from ***********.com
I can't comment on Gil's gun other than many members on the board who have them have posted very positive feedback about them. I've dealt with Steve personally and he is top notch. I have a 110cm Euroteak and it is by far my favorite gun out of my arsenal.

Re: which euro gun?
I have an 110 cayman hf and I have yet to hit a body shot; all head and gill shots. This is a very accurate gun. I switched the 20m band for 2 16's with cord wishbones and it is a nice setup. I also have a 130 rabi apex carbon but haven't shot it yet. The rabitechs look absolutely sick though.

I'd go Aimrite for sure.
