Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Checked viz at a bunch of spots in town yesterday. Viz went to shit. Currents looked pretty strong and there was a good amount of wind chop. Some hook and line guys said the viz was crystal clear in the am and started getting worse around 2pm...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Got a shore dive in Sunday at a nice kelp bed in town right at high tide. Some bait (anchovies) hanging out with murky top to bottom viz. Lots of calico at the bottom but no other game fish seen. Felt great to get a good shore dive in this summer--feels like the good days are few and far between. Chop started picking up as the fog burned off but didnt impact viz much...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Was at Gaviota yesterday. Water around 2pm at the pier was pretty choppy, but viz seemed very good from above the surface. 10ft plus. Did not dive down to look at more. By the way, what is the 'pole' sticking out of the water just east of the pier? A rock and the pole is likely a warning for boats, etc.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Dove at sunset today. Viz in shallows was shit soup and in 15 feet of water it was 10-20. Water was warm. Lotta bugs out and about. Hope that portends a strong season. Otherwise a very uneventful dive

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
One of my partners is looking to sell his 1/3rd ownership of our boat. Looking for a committed financially stable person with boat experience to partner with me and another co-owner. Ideally someone who lives in Goleta, and has space to park the boat.
It's a 21' 1986 Bayliner Trophy. The engine is newer, and was installed by a previous owner. (I think it's a 2000 or 2002, not sure). The engine is a MerCuriser 5.0 Liter, 220 hp, 305 Cubic Inches. It only has 317 hours on it, and it runs great. I just replaced the risers and water intake manifolds (big job $3000), the alternator, the impeller, the batteries, and had the carburetor serviced. The outdrive is a MerCruiser Alpha One, and had all of the seals replaced. The boat is also equipped with my chartplotter/fishfinder connected to an AIS transceiver. The AIS transceiver receives data that allows you to see the location of cargo ships when crossing the shipping lanes in the fog. The AIS transceiver also broadcasts your location so that the Coast Guard can find you in the event that you need help, and it allows your loved ones to track your location via AIS on the Marine Traffic app. Buy in is $2,500, plus 1/3rd cost for storage and maintenance. Please call or text me if you are interested. Nate Harmony- (909) 638-6792

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Whoa... water temp dropped from about 65 yesterday to 58-59 overnight.
http://sbc.lternet.edu/data/stearns_wharf/index.php Time to bust out the 7mm suit sooner than expected for bug season.
