Re: Fusion Rollers vs Standard Rollers

[quote=Behslayer;2207093]SATdiver, Did you limit the band stretch on the 16mm bands on the top of the Mono Roller?

So I understand, this was an Inverted Mono Roller with (Poliplast) Rollers in the back of the gun.

16mm on top and going around the Rollers (Limited Band stretch with dyneema core?)
19mm bands on the Poliplast
19mm Bands on the Bottom

Were all of these bands Small ID?

Yes I have line in the 16mm bands going through the front rollers.
19mm through the back rollers.
19mm bands on the bottom as extra.
I have now been testing this gun with 2 sets of extra 19mm bands on the bottom to give more shaft speed. Quite impressive for a simple roller gun.
The 19mm bands tied at 310% and the line is set to where I want the 16mm bands to stop at the bottom. The 16mm bands are 320%
All the bands are normal I/D not small I/D.
I just call this gun a mono roller with rollers at the rear. I get a bit confused with all the different terminology people use.
There is more a technic in loading this gun, can be very hard for someone to load if not tried before.

One of a series, yellow is slack rubber, blue is prestretch, red is stretched rubber used during the shot.

Re: Fusion Rollers vs Standard Rollers

If anyone has a roller gun that shooting low, try adding a second wishbone. Such a easy fix.
You can see a little chafing on the short wishbone. This is coursed with the shark fin as it rides up the stopper tube on release of the shaft. I try the loading the short wishbone before I added a second longer wishbone.

Re: Fusion Rollers vs Standard Rollers

Thanks for the photos, now I see what you mean by "I found by adding a second longer wishbone, to load on the shark fin and a short wishbone for the stopper. I got very flat and accurate shots and more penetration compared to just the one wishbone for the stopper." A trailing wishbone seems to work OK if it arrives slightly later than any hit on a stopper which is what your leading wishbone does when it hits the muzzle metal fitting or lifter. That is a pretty long gun at 165 cm! On a cable rollergun the knots can hit the stopper bar before the wishbone arrives.

Satdiver - can I ask you where the slack rubber in your 4th picture attach to? I'm a bit confusedů
Great thread, learning lots here.

Re: Fusion Rollers vs Standard Rollers

Hi e.m.p, the slack rubbers are attached to the 2 bolts in front of the trigger guard.

Re: Fusion Rollers vs Standard Rollers

Because the same band rubber connected in series with a load applied to it always undergoes the same proportion of stretch in the various segments I had to slightly modify the diagram accordingly to work out the energy storage diagrams. This is the result and you can see the Fusion rollergun stores less energy for the shot all things being equal than the standard rollergun. Ergonomically it may be easier to load just because you have something more substantial to grab onto i.e. those short top bands, but giving away wishbone travel has its consequences. Using piggy back bands to pile on more rubber can change the situation and that is usually the purpose of composite band guns that link more bands onto a given run of cable by splitting the rear ends to run to separate anchors on the rear underside of the gun. One advantage of the Fusion rollergun is the bands don't get bent around the rollers where some energy must be lost during the shot.

See attachment.

Where these more complex guns do have an advantage is the extra piggy back bands that can be cocked later thanks to the split bands or Y connection composite bands that I have not shown in this diagram. The reduction of jerk occurs either through bands travelling around rollers, which absorb energy and slows the bands, or the extra hydrodynamic drag imposed by more band lengths and their connectors ploughing through the water as the bands contract. A jerk is the rate of acceleration change just as acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

Interesting Gun Satdiver.
What sized spear are you shooting? How does it shoot compared to a normal roller.

I have a very similar by Andre, it has 3 rubbers and a kicker. I haven't shot it yet (And don't plan to anytime soon, but hopefully one day).
