Riffe Padauk or JBL Sawed off Woody Magnum for socal

Hey guys im trying to get into the sport of spearfishing and have experience with only a polespear. Does anyone have advice on a good gun for me? Im leaning towards JBL and Riffe. The max i can spend is around $450.

JBL if you're on a budget, Id go with the elite over the regular one though. Their wood guns are pretty sweet, I shoot the woody mag 450 and Im happy with its grip and performance. The riffe guns are nice too.

Thumbs up Re: Riffe Padauk or JBL Sawed off Woody Magnum for socal

Ok. Does the JBL have a reel u can buy like the riffes? And does the hood thing at the end of the barrel that holds the shaft down make it more difficult to aim?

I have a riffe paduak and haven't been too impressed. I'd drop a little extra $ and get a riffe euro.

Where are you located?
If you are within driving distance of petros (spear america in OC) or J&J down in San diego go see them.
Get a 90cm railgun
Get a single band
Get a flopper shaft
I have really liked my pathos guns so far I would definitely get one of them. RA also makes a solid gun. I pretty much would not advise deviating from these two options and I think you will be very pleased with the results in the long run.

cressi comanche 75 and use the extra cash for other gear. Buy in a shop though unless you own rigging tools.

X 2 on Mako Spearguns. They have a new line coming out http://www.makospearguns.com/AR15-Am...un-p/maetr.htm
The Mako reel is really nice too. Call Dano....you'll be stoked. Good luck. T

If you were to go with a JBL, a Rob Allen or Wong reel could be added to the gun. That being said I agree with what Josh and some of the other guys are saying. Get a 90cm Euro Gun (i.e. Pathos or Rob Allen) and you will be happy with your decision.

"Wong reel could be added to the gun"
Actually, Mako & Wong get there reels made by the same company except you can get a mounting plate for a quick release with the Mako reel. Cheers. T
