Post Storm Visibility NC

Looking for some visibility reports down the Carolina coast following Florence. Visibility off Virginia Beach out to the light tower was pretty poor a week ago. I'm considering making a trip to the outer banks or frying pan tower, but don't want to waste the gas if the water is still murky.

Re: Post Storm Visibility NC

I haven't been out myself since the storm(my house has major damage, boat made it thru fine), but I got a second-hand report from last week that the offshore vis was about 15ft or less down to 80ft and then went to blackout conditions below that in the vicinity of FPT. There is going to be a lot of shit(literally) dumping into the ocean for awhile.

I would say our season is done for this year. I will be talking to a friend of mine in Hatteras soon and will let you know what he says about their conditions.

Ran offshore from Oregon inlet. Water didn't get clear until about 15 miles out. Cleared up to 20ft viz at 25 miles and 40ft viz at 40 miles.

Re: Post Storm Visibility NC

Wanted to revive this thread: does anyone have first or second reports on viz and fishing conditions for offshore of Wilmington points and Frying pan tower. I have trip planned in one week. Any help appreciated.

Re: Post Storm Visibility NC

Just to update this for yall.

The stream has been pretty good lately. Vis 50-100' depending on the eddies pushing out.

40 Miles out vis has been cleaning up a good bit. Frying pan Tower had 50'+ of vis last week.
