Venom shaft advice

I'm about to order a threaded shaft (riffe)for my Venom 130. It came stock with a 67" (170cm) 7.5mm flopper shaft. Since I'll be using a slip-tip I'd like to go with a shorter shaft, However, Riffe Euro shafts come only in 9/32 or 5/16. I'm leaning towards going with a 60" 5/16. Can anyone give me an idea what the proper length of the 5/16 should be to keep similar kinetic energy?

You might want to ask Rick about that before getting it. Not all euro shafts are the same. If you get one let us know how it works. I'm looking at getting a threaded shaft next for my venom.

I'm interested in what you find out also. I need to get a threaded shaft and sliptip for my Super Venom 130.

Re: Venom shaft advice

Ok, here's what I found out. According to Riffe (i called) there shafts (SS) fit the Venom. Riffe has many sizes both in threaded and flopper and are available sharkfinned in 9/32 and 5/16. According to Rob Allen there shafts are substantially tougher than the riffes, but, they only make Floppers and do not make sharkfinned shafts, however, they do make mini fins. Sumora sells some RA shafts w/sharkfins, but, extremely limited selection...as of now. Aimrite specifically makes the Venom for the 7-7.5 shaft and obviously likes the RA shaft as well due to its toughness. However, Rick rx if you use the riffe use the 9/32 because the 5/16 is too big.

So, I've ordered the RA 7.5 mini fin w/flopper. If the flopper doesn't quite work on WSB I'll have Mori cut it off and re-thread for his slip tip. Or, I might just take up golf!

I'm no business guy, but, I sense a market here.

Re: Venom shaft advice

I've heard it's a bitch to properly cut and re-thread a shaft once it's been tempered.
The cutting die wants to open up instead of cuting threads into the steel.
If you're having Mori do the work, it'd probably be cheaper to have him make you a custom shaft (or 2) the correct length and heat treat it after it's threaded, rather than send him a cheaper shaft to dick around with.
Have you checked out http://www.spearcrafters.com/index.html ? They do nice work:
