Re: Speargun paint clear coat??
I use to have a remote control boat that i painted and used a polyurethane clear coat on it. Ran it in salt and fresh water with no problems.

That definitely looks good. Can't help with the clear coat issue but, good job on the dolphin skin look.

Re: Speargun paint clear coat??
I would say a few coats some kind of clear spray . Other than a "epoxy " paint , I would not use epoxy to coat it

Re: Speargun paint clear coat??
You should use a two part high solids automotive urethane clear coat such as DuPont Chroma or Nason Sellect Clear. Anything else will not hold up well. Multiple coats with a 400 grit light sand in between. Nice paint job bro!

Re: Speargun paint clear coat??
I paint all my guns. Might use your idea! It's awesome. You need to use a very good auto motive clear at least. I 've painted cars for twenty five years. Actually the best clear in the world for spear guns and real firearms is Duracoat. It becomes rock hard when cured . I use it to paint my tactical rifles. Just go to their web site. You can get it in a shaky can . Lighty sand your paint first with some1000grit then let her rip.
If you can't find the web site go to Midway USA .com I think they have it too. Awesome paint job. Eddie |
