Using the latest in advanced spearfishing technology, this float is the answer to the challenging and ever-changing demands of the modern spearo.

This is what I use on all my local dives. Its perfect for shore dives and also amazing if you bring it to the islands for use with white seabass and yellowtail.

Who needs to spend big bucks on a name brand float when you can fully trick out one of these bad boys in no time!?
And to think that Travis said you lacked a sense of humor. lol

Re: DIY "Banksboard" style dive float?

Here's my first dive float, inspired by one of Diablo Loco's. I used leash plugs ($2), stainless steel rings ($.80), and a total of 50' knockoff paracord ($8) for my attachment points. I would like to add backpack straps to the bottom but I'm concerned they would snag kelp. Anybody have issues with their straps?

Nice looking board. Not fancy, but will do what you need it to. As for shoulder straps, you will definitely need them, as the board will be a pain to carry, especially with all of your gear and/or game. You will want to make careful consideration on the design or how you want to attach them. If you do it right, you can leave the straps attached while you are in the water. Another option is to make them removable. On my boards, I usually leave them on and have no problem with swimming over kelp. But I also made my straps with the option of removal. It will all depend on how you install the straps.

My board is a seriously mutant looking contraption, and it has straps mounted on the bottom. I too made them removable, but I've become too lazy to remove them and just leave them on while diving. I tend to hide in pretty thick kelp, and I've never noticed the straps getting hung up in it.
I'll post a photo of my contraption in the next day or two, although it's certainly nothing special. It sure works well for me though...
Ron.
