Trip report from 3/31 30 miles off Saint Pete

Have canceled 2 prior trips due to weather, so we couldn't take it anymore. Even though last weekend was nice and noaa messed with the forecasting. Well, they were dead on this time . 15knt E to SE winds with a 2-3' wind swell moderate chop. It was no picnic running around in a small boat. But we did it and had a good time. Nobody got sick either!

Water temps were 69 on top and were 66-68 on the bottom with some thermos. Viz varied from 30 - 50'. The jacks were around, but all were small ~24" so we didn't shoot any. I did see one or 2 bruisers cruise by and I was ready, but they avoided me like the plague. I'd estimate they were like 40#. Lots of hogs everywhere most were small. Only a couple good sized gags and we got 1 keeper Red. Mangs were between 4 and 8#.

A tough day, but it was pretty fun. It finally layed down around 3

Too rough to take good pics, but here are a couple. Thanks guys for hanging in there!

Gray with a nice gag and snouter

John with a nice gag and mang

Todd and John with some nice fish, Johns mang was NICE!

Jim,

Glad you were able to finally get out. Diving in 66-69 degree water in shorties! You guys are hard core!

See you at the Bottom
