Broken GoPro 2 lens
Unfortunately in my last spearfishing trip I broke the lens of my GoPro 2 on the first day...
I was getting all my gear ready for getting in the water and while moving things around I dropped my GoPro 2 and it landed lens side down. It was inside the dive housing but somehow one of the internal parts of the lens shattered (the front element is fine) All lens repairs kits I've found online are for the housing so assuming I can find the actual camera lens replacement kit, is it worth repairing?, how hard will it be?, I've read the lens is glued onto the circuit board. |

Re: Broken GoPro 2 lens
you just need to heat up the glue with a heat gun or hair drier. Its not that tough, just be easy and dont force it off, rather..coax it off.. Rage Cams has a bunch of replacement lenses and im sure you can call them to see if they have an OEM one laying around. Although, they might sell you on an upgraded one thatll really make your go pro shine.

Re: Broken GoPro 2 lens
I am still not sure if it is worth repairing, Rage Cams sell the original lens for 129.99, a new gopro hero 3 white edition is 199.99.
The main problem is that I am not in the US so unless I find a local seller (or the original lens at a cheaper price) it will probably be more expensive to import the replacement lens than buying a new camera. |
