Leatherback turtle
Amazing opportunity to see this guy today and share space with this creature! I've seen leatherbacks 2 other times in the gulf, but while on the boat, and always brief. So being able to have him drive by and catch it on video, it was great. Ranks up there with the couple of whale shark opportunities I've had. 47' temp 79 degrees. Out of New Port Richey. |

Re: Leatherback turtle
Wow, congrats on a cool (and very rare) experience. I’ve been diving over 40 years and made over 5000 dives and have never seen a Leatherback during a dive! David told me that turtle was about 6 ft. long and easily 600 lbs. Heck, that turtle had his own ecosystem swimming with him……Ramoras and a school of bait fish. A memorable dive for sure.

Re: Leatherback turtle
Very cool. I think this is the only time someone has posted a vid from one in this area.
