Smile Newby in West Maui

Aloha,

I'm a "new kid" (as long as you don't ask me how old I am), both to spearfishing and to Maui. I moved here in July to take a teaching job at Lahaina Intermediate; I currently call Napili home.

I've been a casual snorkeler and scuba diver for more than 30 years—took a long scuba hiatus and got back into it more seriously a few years ago—so I'm fairly comfortable in the water. I've recently acquired some gear more suitable for skin diving than scuba, as I find many more opportunities to go.

I've got an old three-prong pole spear, and want to start fishing for the table. My schedule is tricky, sometimes—I also "do" theatre, so rehearsal schedules plus work schedules can be complicated—but if there's anyone willing to teach this old dog some new tricks, I'd be thrilled to work something out.

I'll be the silly buggah on a Harley, draped with all his gear.

Welcome draagen!

After a three day trip to New York, I had just cleared about a hundred new members after IP checking them to weed out spammers and banned troublemakers. I then clicked on new members and spotted you and cleared the screen name maybe within an hour after your sign-up. Most wait for a few days - LOL, but my methods keeps the board relatively clean of spam even though a few will squeak through. So many people join Spearboard and don't post. I appreciate your introductory post.

Enjoy, Tony

I'm good at following directions.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm on here and the HSD board; hoping they'll help me connect with locals who can show me da' ropes!
