140 cm triple band vs 140cm single roller

like the title says I am looking at getting the Picasso magnum carbom bw 140 cm it comes with 3 bands or as a roller. i hear rollers are only better up to 110 cm or so. so my question is what do you think is going to get more range and be a more effective bluewater gun targeting offshore species. 😊

this is the speargun if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Between those options I would strongly recommend the non-roller

Between those options and something else I would recommend something else.

I have that gun on the 120 conventional model and it's really great. If you get the 140 I would go for the "power" version and switch to an 8mm shaft (comes with a 7.5mm shaft rather than the 7mm for the non-power BW version)

Drop it to a 120 and make it a double roller.

BTW, this is the Power version

Essentially same barrel as the BW you are looking at but different muzzle, three 14mm bands, and thicker shaft

They also make an invert double roller version of the BW but I haven't seen it https://megasub.com/index.php?route=...roduct_id=1364

yes, I was looking at getting the power version. what would you recommend instead for 300 bucks I'm in Europe now and they are pretty cheap for what you get and has the thickest shaft I have found on a gun in Europe without breaking the bank. I do remember holding one at spear America and it felt a little flimsy but 300 bucks is 300 bucks.
i will be spearing in the canary islands

Maybe earlier versions were flimsy, the current BW models are really nice and the trigger mech is really solid. I would get the Power model if you want a thicker shaft. The power slip version looks nice too, just don't expect the slip tip to be Mori quality.

Re: 140 cm triple band vs 140cm single roller

According to my experience, a pipe gun with 3 bands will have a considerable recoil. If you're used to shoot spearguns with recoil, go for the traditional setup. A roller won't have more power than a 3 banded gun, but your accurancy should be better because it won't kick in your hand.
I have a friend that lives in Tenerife and uses exactly that same gun you're looking for (Picasso carbon). He's sponsored by Picasso though.

Here's his youtube channel:

I have a 3 banded 140 aluminum Euro and the recoil is minimal. But it has a thicker 32mm pipe with more mass, so that might help with the recoil.

Cool videos from your buddy, thanks for sharing!

I don't think I'm going to Tenerife any soon, but I can put you in contact with Arcadio.

Good luck over there!
