I think both watches are classics and I can't wait to pass them on to my son when he gets older.

Watches are the only "jewelry" I will ever wear so I don't think nice watches are unreasonable but to be honest, on weekends & when I travel, I only wear my G-Shock =)
I absolutely abused one of the first G Shocks that came out.Framing,Laying block, plastering and roofing for years.Shine it up with Hawaian tropic oil and go out .Watch shop didn't seal it right after a battery change and it flooded on a shallow dive.Sort of the Glock of the watch world.Ugly, plastic but does what it supposed to do every time at an affordable price.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)

I’ve always admired Rolex watches and if/when I could afford to own one I would wear it every day as a reminder that working hard will reward me with the things I want in life. That was 10 years ago and that’s how long it took me to get this beauty on my wrist.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)

Congrats, she's a beaut.
I remember the day I bought my first Rolex, it was 40 years ago in St Thomas USVI, I kept looking at my wrist all day long, couldn't stop.
I bet yours looks that good to you also, cant take your eyes off it the first day you wear it.
Again...Congrats!

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)

Anyone familiar with Steinhart watches?Been comparing TAG and some other watches with similar features and movements.Seems like a lot of watch for a reasonable price.

Another watch I have been considering is Christopher Ward.Same ball park money wise but not titanium.
Still have work to do on the renovation before I reward myself.

I saw them on a gun forum that has a watch sub forum. The comments were all positive on them.I like the titanium.
Wife had a citizen titanium and the jeweler didn't seal the watch right. She went in the water in Key West for Lobster and the watch floodedGot her a Certina in titanium for Anniversary and have had no issues.Certina has a titanium mens dive watch also.
Don't want to spend big bucks on a watch that costs what a nice used Harley Ultra costs but would like something nice.Yes Im frugal.

Nice bugs! Being frugal is good. When you finally get what you want it will be really satisfying. It is nice that your wife dives with you.

Wife will snorkel for Lobster and once we limit wants to go back to the rentalShe used to help me scuba diving when I had my commercial license but freaked out when she got jumped by a mess of sharks off Port Everglades that wanted one of our bags of fishShe was pissed I kept spearing after dispatching a few of the aggressive ones.Had to get new help.
Dave Ramsey preaches rewarding yourself after attaining a goal and not to go in debt doing it.Wish they taught that in school!I don't agree with him on not having ANY credit cards because they are a easy way for me to keep track of my spending monthly and Im using my points to purchase the reward.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)

About all I use is credit cards for the rewards I get, but I pay them off in full every month. Never have paid any interest. But I do get significant rewards on occasion for using them, so why use cash or a check?

Dave Ramsey is a great source of financial education. The few times my wife went diving with me in the tropics I had a hard time paying attention to the fish...
