You can buy it online in many stores here in the USA. I got mine from Nautilus, but also Bentic has it.

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
Thanks I’ll order some and try it. The kavalar I got is a little stiff but they said it will get more limp in time.

Also, a few of the people who have shot dyneema a lot by now say it really helps wrapping it tight. Which, depending on how your trigger and line release interacts maybe impact your trigger pull. That's to say, that supposedly, some triggers are better candidates for dyneema than others. |

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
Kevlar is great line to use when you want ultimate abrasion resistance and that was the only line I used to use when spearfishing the oil rigs. But I think the new stiff dyneema is better and also very abrasion resistant. With Kevlar you need to worry about it degrading with UV light, but really never had any issues with that personally. Also it tends to absorb water so much more chance of band tangle than stiff dyneema. With 2 wraps mono line is always best if you can use it as it tangles much less. Recently I have been testing dyneema with 2 wraps and trying to avoid tangles and it seems it is possible. Best is to have "horn" type rope loop that is sideways rather than on the bottom. This seems to absolutely remove any band tangles even if you shoot upside down (usually the easiest way to tangle your line). You should always have as much rope as you need and not more. If you have poor visibility it makes no sense to have 2 wraps ... but in clear water you most certainly want to have that second wrap.
If using light shafts I would go with the Benthic 1.4 ... heavier shafts then go with the 1.7mm. I would also use a PVC sleeve in the area where you tie your line to shark fin as that seems to always be the place where there is most abrasion. I use crimping of the stiff dyneema and feel it is by far the best way to connect that line to shaft and gives the best performance. |

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
Interesting stuff can you elaborate on crimping the dyneema? Is it the same as with mono? What about using a bowline?

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
I tried crimping the Aussie dyneema and it didn't work for me (it slipped, so I had to tie a knot). With real fish, I mean...

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
I have Two Pathos Sniper R 115 and one 85 but using mono. I have had no problem with tangled bans. I use three wraps on my 115 in the Philippines because of the vis there and skittish fish. Here in SoCal my 115 and 85 only two wraps cause of low vis. I also use 200lb mono I think it’s 1.5mm so I take a lot when I go home because of the reefs we hunt on. It holds up fairly good but I do have to change it while I’m there. That’s why I was curious about this dyneema for here and there.

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
Have you ever done the math on the shooting distance when using 3 loops on the 115? Or better, lay it down on the floor and extend all the line like you shot it. Then think honestly if your are able to hit anythig that far (and if a living/moving fish will stay there waiting for your spearshaft to hit it)

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
Yes I did exactly what you said and laid the shaft down next to the target so it was half way through. Then measured from muzzle to target. Our pool has little squares every 4 feet from each other and it was 7 to target 28 feet. Although I don’t think I would take a shot that far. Just wanted to see how accurate it would be. I aimed center and It shot right about two inches. Shot three times and it shot a one and a half inch group.

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?
Brandon I use a double wrap in our murky waters because it lets me surface and hold on to the gun the fish/shaft gets stuck. otherwise yea it's not for the range.
