Techniques to Avoid
Sometimes, when I shoot a smaller fish and the shot looks weak, I will let go of the gun in an attempt to not pull shaft out. Left my scooter and went for more of a swim than I expected.

Do that on most of the West Coast spots and you'll be quickly saying "oh shit" when you see the large shadow of that Goliath Grouper rapidly closing in on your fish and spear.....
