Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Is Malibu ever going to be the same? I really missed the good all days, when you could go in and have a nice Dive, good visibility, lot of fish, but it looks like everything going to shit

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Upper bu, about a mile offshore on a 70' bottom. Got in around 7a. Water 64F, viz up to 40' at the surface, cloudier on bottom. Lovely day, we were just following lobster pots around, scouting for interesting bottom when my buddy was like, 'hold up there is some bait over there...'

And suddenly schools of yellowtail started cruising through, close enough to reach with a single band 80...!

He went 35lbs gutted.

Started diving around noon, wrapped up at 5:30p. Super quiet, barely even a bird. 40' viz top to bottom. Could clearly see sand. Santa Monica Bay looked a bit green from the boat. Tomorrow should have wicked epic viz as well....

Got out at high tide, west of Dume. 30ft viz. Pulled 3 bugs, 2 of which were 3-4 pounds. Lots of reefies around.

Got out yesterday on high tide and could barely see the tip of my spear; terrible viz!! Maybe 5 ft at best. Nothing taken. Sunday is looking to be good though

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Not today but Wednesday was terrible 7ft max. Thursday was awesome though 30ft or so was being followed by a school of a few hundred barracuda (24in max) . Looks like it's going to be pretty flat for the next week.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

I haven't been in the water too much lately but i got a chance to go out last night. I got in the water around 6pm. visibility was about 10-15 feet and really grainy/hazy. I saw a couple bugs hanging out in the eel grass but other than that it was pretty barren. i saw some small fish hanging around but nothing worth taking.

I was north of Dume.
