The SPO is an awesome tournament that I have personally shot many times.

Dean, I have been unable to make it the past few years due to marine scientific research conflicts.

But, I will try to make it this year. Tony

Its that time again, here is the official invite from the St. Petersburg Open

Dear Fellow Shooters,

It’s that time again……..the 52nd Annual St. Pete Open is just right around the corner and remaining registrations and rooms are dwindling.

Register today before registration limits out! We sell out every year and this year looks to be no exception. We want to make sure you are with us for the fun. Also rooms are going fast at the Hotel. Be sure to BOOK YOUR ROOM this week if you can to assure you have one! Use the discount code SPO or mention the event when you book to get the discount before July 20th.

Like last year, the St. Pete Open will be limited to a maximum of 300 shooter registrations from individuals who are not members of the SPUC. This means that you need to register early to get your spot for the World’s Largest Spearfishing Tournament! Once 300 shooters enter the tournament, registration will close without warning.

The SPUC is continuing this policy primarily to provide a safer, more valuable, and enjoyable experience for everyone at the SPO, as well as make the prize table the biggest and best ever seen at a spearfishing tournament!

This year's event will be held again at the Magnuson Hotel Marina Cove, 6800 Sunshine Skyway Lane S., St. Petersburg, FL. 33711.

Timeline of Events

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017 – Kick Off Party at The Caddy's on Central; 7:30 PM - Midnight

Friday, August 18th, 2017 - Final Registration (if needed) & Captain's Meeting; 6 - 8:30 PM

Saturday, August 19th, 2017 - Tournament Day & Weigh-In Party; Weigh-in closes at 7:30 PM

Sunday, August 20th, 2017 - Awards Ceremony; 10AM - 2 PM
