Just so that I can be Fair and Balanced (like Fox News), I'll point out a negative. I don't like that the device only has SMS Chat. Apple could have easily included iChat so that regular AIM messaging was available, but they did the SMS so that AT&T could charge you for text messaging. |

Re: the iPhone
I thought this was an interesting article. This is probably the closest topic thread for it.

Re: the iPhone
Not referencing this to you at all, Scott, I wanted to start a new thread but I have no "new thread" permissions right now. This was the closest thing.

Re: the iPhone
Steve, why can't you start a new thread? I didn't even know it was possible to suspend someone's thread starting privileges (short of blocking them), and I had access to the admin panel for several years. Then again, I probably didn't know 80% of what the admin panel did. It's called "flying by the seat of your pants." Interesting article. A few years ago I googled "internet addiction" because I think it exists, and I saw it in some members of the forum.
Hope you get your privileges back soon, because you are one of the more entertaining people on spearboard, which brings value to the overall experience for people who visit here. |

Re: the iPhone
Steve,
Since I can't PM you, I'll tell you here that I have no idea what's going on with your privileges. Mine were messed up for a while yesterday as well, but seem to be corrected now. I think there might be a few things going on with the database, but haven't heard anything one way or the other. And hey Scott - ***** YOU!!!! |

Re: the iPhone
Just read on MSNBC that the iphone battery is only good for 300-400 recharge cycles, then it needs to be replaced.
And the kicker is, the battery is not user replaceable. Send it back to Apple, pay the fee, and they mail it back. No word on the turnaround time, but I heard Apple will rent you a loaner phone for $29 while your phone is getting a new battery. Quote:

Re: the iPhone
Scott,
I live in the Woodlands and have never had good cell reception here. It sucks when you have to stand in your driveway to talk. I've had Verzion, alltel, and Nextel with no luck. I just switched to Metro PCS. $47.00 a month with no contract 1. Unlimited local 2. Unlimited long distance 3. Unlimited Internet 4. Unlimited 411 I know its "limited" coverage. I have used it offshore in Hernando Beach and as far South as Venice with no issues. If any of you have kids or like me was getting killed by cell phone bills it may be something to look at. |

How is the real estate market doing over in your neck? Seen any houses move, or still rows of 4-sale signs everywhere? I think it is about to get very ugly, as a record number of people who acquired the teaser subprime deals from lendors are about to get a rude awakening when the ARM kicks in. Some will see 35% increases in their mortage. That sound you hear is the whooosh of foreclosures being filed quicker than the clerk can docket them. |
