Lost at Anacapa

Stab in the dark?
Buddy lost a weight belt and a pole spear on the back side of Anacapa.
It would be cool to find it for him, sure he could identify it if found.

Re: Lost at Anacapa

How did he lose it? Did it fall off a boat, or did he shoot a black sea bass, try to hold on, and ditch his belt at depth to make surface before blacking out? How does one lose a belt and pole spear and if diving, why did he not have a float line for his PS?
Questions must be asked. Questions must be answered.

That is a very large search area... can you narrow it down lol. I dive out there all the time... if I knew within 50yds of where he was I might be able to locate it.

Re: Lost at Anacapa

Thoughtpoie spear was on his arm. Opened buckle on belt by accident while kicking on surface back to boat against strong current. Was able to keep stringer of those tasty orange fish.
Yes he is a waterman but not a lot of dives under his belt.
Eetween the underwater plaque and west end off the point, maybe a little west of point.
Long shot i know but between my kids and friends loosing shit I am running low on spares.

Nothing to be done for lost gear but hope. However, for your gear now; place reflective tape on all of your "lost-able" gear. I have reflective tape on my spare dive lights, lobster gauges, lobster bag and even every side of my boat. Reflective tape makes it much easier to find your gear, especially should you decide to return for it at night of course.
