Sea Turtle Entanglements
Hey spearboard, been more than a hot minute since I posted on here.
I am writing on behalf of my colleague Rachel Smith, a conservation manager with Disney Conservation and a current PhD student at the University of Florida. Rachel is studying interactions between sea turtles and trap fisheries (spiny lobster, stone crab, blue crab) in Florida, and is really interested in learning more about turtle encounters (e.g. entanglement) in trap gear. She is also interested in if/how entangled turtles are reported when found. If you have any personal encounters with sea turtles entangled in trap line/buoys, or know someone who does, you can send me a PM or reach out to Rachel directly at: jrachel.smith@ufl.edu or rachel.smith@disney.com. Thanks!
