Speargun identity crisis

Just got in my brand new koah fatback mid-handle in zebra wood. It will replace my old riffe. I’m going to mainly be scuba diving with it but when I go down to the keys for some freediving id like to use it there too. I’m going to have to use some kind of reel or float line when I’m freediving but I don’t want to permanently affix a reel as it will just get in the way during scuba. Is a belt reel a valid solution, so I can just clip it on a reel if I shoot a big fish? I really don’t want to let go of my brand new custom gun. Worst case Scenario I just use my riffe for freediving and my koah for scuba but I rather have one do everything. Thanks in advance for replies.

Reels don't get in the way enough to not use one. I've never had a situation where I lost a chance at a fish because a reel was attached to my gun.

I have to second AK. They don't get in the way, just an advantage.

Why don't you just use a break-away rig with bouy and float line? You would not have to scratch up your new Koah.

The Koah reel mounting system allows you to just slide it on and off in seconds. Never birds-nest either.

Re: Speargun identity crisis

Koah, red tide, rob allen, etc.. all have a small base you can mount and the reel bracket slides onto it when you want to use a reel, off when you don't.
