The 2016 Big Bang Open was a resounding success. In spite of a computer challenge at the weigh-in set-up phase, this year like last year, was one of the smoothest spearing tournament events I have been involved with as a BBO organizer or as a competitor elsewhere in other tournaments.

The BBO venue at the Palm Beach Gardens Moose Lodge is truly outstanding. This is our third year there.

The sponsors, the volunteers, the vendors, the charities, the contestants, the families - all pulled together and made this event simply incredible. Thank you all.

An outstanding feature of the Big Bang! Open is the robust number of prizes we have displayed on our prize wall. Sponsors appreciate having their prizes showcased like this for the crowd to see and touch.

We had over 60 spearguns and around 20 pole spears for the contestants to choose from along with many other exceptional rewards for their spearing efforts.

Our photographer Kyle Darcy took almost 500 photos of the prizes and ceremony which I will start posting tomorrow.

The set-up of the covered weigh-in pavilion was aided by the Soup Kitchen Charity "Fishing for Families in Need."

These wonderful young volunteers have filled their coolers for many years with donations of edible fish for people in need.

The BBO "Big Fish Display Bins" allow us the showcase on ice the biggest fish as they roll through the weigh-in line.

Our weigh-in team lead by Weighmaster Randy Docks make the process smooth.

The inside air-conditioned dining hall inside the Moose Lodge venue is a major comfort feature at the Big Bang! Open.

The BBO Prize Wall is legendary. This year was much more of the same treasured booty.
