Re: Los Angeles Must Pay Billions to Adapt—or Slip Into the Sea

Thanks Max. This article is a good example of how the global warming movement has permeated all media and even science. They capitalize on any type of natural disaster and then claim credit for their "climate change" theories. Even the Miami monster-hurricane last year--which never came(!) alas for the global warming theory supporters …
Southern California has struggled with beach erosion since the beginning of time. That's because it's shores are soft sandy soil, no rocks, and huge waves that erode the shoreline which was shaped by the costal tectonic uplift. In the last half century LA has tried many things to deal with this issue.
In the 50s they used concrete bags stacked up on top of each other and rebar ran through them, then making the stack wet, and create a "wall", against soil erosion. Now they're building mini 'breakwalls' in Malibu.
Sand erosion is a well known issue, especially during El Nino years. In many beaches this year the sand is now gone and there's only a bedrock exposed, which is bad for many types of many marine lives.
In some beaches back in the 20s, LA had installed metal groins into the sand in order to control the sand erosion. Little did they know, that you can not control 20' waves with such contraptions. And so the sand was gone and they got left with rusty iron plates in the surf zone, waiting for unsuspecting surfers, until they spent more money to remove them...

So it's not new, and it's not "climate change"; it's a fact of the SoCal geology and the open ocean which brings giant waves every El Nino, which is also part of the natural cycle.

human-induced climate change
The first sentence starts off with a false unproven claim then tends to build upon this false claim. WTF, yo?
